Horse Passport Legislation

The Law, (Horse Passport Regulations 2004), requires all horses, ponies and donkeys in the UK to have a passport, and for that passport to be kept up to date.pet-id-horse-passport

New legislation introduced in February 2005, means that horses must be accompanied by their passport when being transported under the following circumstances:

* For the purpose of competition
* For the purpose of breeding
* In or out of Great Britain
* To other premises where a veterinary medical product is to be administered
* To the premises of a new keeper
* To a slaughterhouse
* For the purposes of sale

1st July 2009 deadline

After the 1st July 2009 all horses had to be micro chipped by a veterinary surgeon, before a passport could be issued.horse-passport-agency
